The Olde Mill will be reopening for functions in May 2008. Idyllically situated on the Coast Road (A5087) between Ulverston and Barrow in Furness - it enjoys unrivalled views across Morecambe Bay to the Lancashire coastline. This vista taking in the Flookburgh/Grange over Sands peninsula to Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham and the Pennine hills dominated by the flat topped Ingleborough, the best known of Yorkshire's three peaks.
The Olde Mill is now under the ownership of the Barlow Family who, via The Farm Shop at Baycliffe, have an enviable reputation for locally reared meats, home made bakery products and their Outside Catering business "Premier Outside Catering", which provides anything from the Perfect Pie and Pea supper to Wonderful Wedding Buffets. Now, at The Olde Mill, a new dimension will be added to the family business, giving the Barlows the perfect setting for lunches, snacks, teas as well as private parties, christenings, funerals, anniversaries, traditional Sunday lunches - and, of course, their full Wedding Service.
There are three main areas at the Olde Mill - a comfortable bar area with limestone bar and fireplace and beamed ceilings in which to meet guests and friends or just relax with a drink or coffee after your meal. Our elegant dining room will seat up to 100 and Sunday lunches and functions will be served in this relaxed atmosphere. The Mill Room with its new wooden floor, will be open for snacks, afternoon teas and high teas. This will also serve as a dance area for party nights, or as an extension for the dining room (making the capacity 150). The Olde Mill as a venue can hold a maximum of 280 guests.
Landscaping will take place to the rear of The Olde Mill creating a lovely sun trap for guests. This will be an ideal place for wedding guests to mingle and chat, or just for families to enjoy a meal "al fresco" on beautiful days. We hope to have this completed for Summer 2009.
The Olde Mill Galleries will be opening late Spring/early Summer on the first floor of
the Mill. Sean and Shirley Malkin will be looking forward to welcoming you to view work by
local artists, and will be offering a picture framing service.
Helene Burrows - a renowned Furness artist will also be offering workshops from the
premises during the summer of 2008 - further details are available on her website
